Singer Victor Ruz has spoken about an experience at a Ugandan media house that he says left him feeling disrespected during his music career.
Speaking on a local podcast, Ruz revealed that he had been invited for a music-focused interview but was surprised when the programme featured songs from several other artistes without playing any of his own music.
According to the singer, some of the presenters were people he already knew and had a good relationship with, making the experience even more disappointing.
«“It was a musical interview. They played every other artiste's songs while I was on set except my songs. Some of the presenters are my friends, and we have been together, won some awards from them, but that was too disrespectful, and I hate it. It's the worst thing I have ever experienced in the music industry,” he said.»
Ruz said the situation made him consider confronting the presenters while the programme was ongoing. However, he decided to control his emotions because he feared that any confrontation could have been recorded and later circulated on social media.
«“If I was someone who reacts right away, I was going to cause a scene. It would have surfaced on social media and trended because you can't give me a programme to come and you fail to play a single song from my catalogue of five to six hits,” he added.»
The singer did not disclose the identity of the media house or the presenters involved.
Instead, Ruz expressed hope that other artistes would not have to go through similar experiences when appearing on media programmes.
